Strategic and markets considerations
I believe in a valuation philosophy. When markets are volatile and quality assets go on sale, this is when the best opportunities are found. In our portfolios, we will buy quality underpriced assets, but also sit in cash when markets are exuberant, and prices are high. Volatility is not risk. As a team, we believe that overpaying for assets is the biggest risk in markets.
Fund updates
Ian Scott, head of fixed income, discusses the opportunity set in South African bonds. The stage is set to lock in high real yields at low risk. South African bonds may be the only local asset class generating an income in the next year or more. Investors should think about the current bond allocation in their portfolios and not miss the current opportunity presented.
