Types of investment portfolios
The investment portfolios available in each product option are carefully selected and are Regulation 28 compliant. The main purpose of Regulation 28 of the Pension Fund Act is to protect your employees’ retirement savings by limiting the maximum exposure to more risky asset classes.
Employees also have the option to switch to investment portfolios of their choice, except for the FundsAtWork Core option.

Employees on Founder, Provider or Entrepreneur have the option to switch to investment portfolios of their choice. Core members' contributions are automatically allocated to a set of default investment portfolios, and have no option to switch.

What happens when an employee retires?
Your employee must buy an annuity with their retirement savings to provide them with a monthly income during retirement. As part of government’s retirement default regulations, all funds are required have an annuity strategy in place. The trustees of the FundsAtWork Umbrella Funds have chosen the Golden Income With-Profit Annuity as their annuity strategy as it meets the needs of most pensioners. Employees can select this annuity option or any other annuity offered by Momentum.
What are my employees’ options when they change jobs?
They can cash out their retirement savings, keep their retirement savings in the umbrella fund when leaving their employer as paid-up members, or move their retirement savings to the Momentum Corporate Preservation Fund. Members are encouraged to preserve their retirement savings and should contact their financial adviser before making a decision.
How can my employees make sure they have enough money at retirement?
There are various ways employees can boost their retirement savings, such as increase their contribution rate, choose an investment portfolio that targets a higher return, save their retirement savings when they change employers or make additional voluntary contributions.
