Building insurance claim
Our expert and friendly claims advisers will assist you every step of the way for when you have a burst geyser claim or any claim relating to the structure of your building and outbuilding.
Reporting your claim
You can use the Momentum App to initiate a claim, or report it telephonically. All claims must be reported as soon as possible and no later than 30 days from the date of the incident.
Call us and provide
- Details of the incident.
- Previous insurance details (if applicable).
- For Theft claims - SAPS case number or A1/A2 statement (make sure to get the case number within 48 hours of the incident from the police station closest to where it happened).
- For Fire claims - Information relating to first responders to the scene, such as fire station, SAPS, and any witnesses.
What happens next?
- We’ll update you via telephone, email, or SMS about timelines and details of any outstanding requirements.
- Please note that your assistance may be required in the validation of your claim.
Additional details and requirements
Take photos of the incident
We advise you to take as many photos of the incident as soon as possible from different angles, as it can be very beneficial in the validation process of the claim.
Temporary accommodation
If you cannot stay on your property after an incident, we can provide temporary accommodation for you, your tenant, or any member of your household who lives with you.
Fire claims
After reporting your claim, you need to supply us with an electrical compliance certificate. And if the building or roof is thatch, or has a thatched lapa, you need to provide proof that the policy conditions were applied (you have a lightning conductor or 4.5kg fire hydrant)
