The Momentum Fund Disability Programme
The old saying that no man is an island is equally true of any business.
The Momentum CSI program has made its mark as one of the biggest funders in the disability space in South Africa and is still committed to supporting organizations in this sector. The impact and importance of this has been acknowledged by multiple stakeholders including the NGO and donor communities. As such, the Momentum Fund wishes to remain at the forefront of support for people living with disabilities in South Africa.
We are cognisant of the fact that at Momentum we do not stand alone. We are part of the broader society on a social as well as an economic level. We have a responsibility to look beyond our office walls into the communities that we serve and we take that responsibility very seriously.
At the core of the Momentum CSI programme is a thoughtful, considered approach to any of the projects or initiatives that we fund.
The Momentum Fund Disability programme is aimed to support and strengthen the abilities and capabilities of people with disabilities to cope better in mainstream life, whilst supporting and strengthening society to include people with disabilities. There is a focus on the quality of education and care; access to education and care; prevention - especially secondary prevention in the form of early intervention; and overall inclusion.
Momentum is the proud winner of the Hemlet Foundation Outstanding Achievement Award 2013 - This is for the work that we do for persons with intellectual disabilities.
