Corporate social investment

The Momentum brand has built a reputation as a committed social investor, supporting communities across South Africa. It has done this with the support of the Momentum Metropolitan Foundation (NPC), the social investment arm of Momentum Metropolitan Holdings.

Our ambition is to see one of our country’s biggest assets, our youth, empowered and financially well. Our financial literacy programs are a key component of this.

Making Money Matter

Making Money Matter (MMM) is a financial literacy board game played in high schools, which allow students to make financial decisions, and sometimes, big mistakes, that would be very costly in real life. With MMM they get the opportunity to learn through playing. Since the start of the project in 2015 Momentum started financial literacy workshops for teachers where the board game is played, and it has been integrated into the Economic Management Science lesson plans.

Motheo Financial Dialogues

Motheo Financial Dialogues is driven through interactive face-to-face workshops, industrial theatre and social media platforms. The focus is on facilitating conversations on money matters like understanding your pay slip, budgeting and debt management, relevant to the audience. Motheo has been customized to serve both employees at worksites and organisations in the development sector.

Our volunteers Open

We recognize that we are inescapably tied to the welfare of communities around us and that we need to work for their betterment as an organization. Our volunteer efforts are proof of the integrity of our commitment to be an engaged corporate citizen. Our work in communities is not impersonal. As part of the MMI Volunteers programme, Momentum staff step out to give of their time, talents and specialized skills to communities. Staff support communities through the mmi.forgood.co.za online volunteer platform, as well as many activations that happen across our business centers.
