Our products are designed to meet both the employers' needs and the individual members' needs at various stages of their life. FundsAtWork is a group solution that enables income continuation at an individual member level for various circumstances and life events; whether the member becomes disabled and is no longer able to provide for themselves, to provide for their dependants in the event of their death; if they leave their current employment or if they are ready to enjoy their golden years on retirement.

An employer can choose a combination of insurance, retirement, preservation and lifestyle benefits, packaged under our four FundsAtWork product options.

Our range includes a cost-effective entry level option with no flexibility, to the option for the most financially sophisticated client requiring a wider choice. FundsAtWork's product options are as follows:

  • Founder - this is the most cost effective product option with very limited flexibility. To keep the costs low and to provide benefits similar to the proposed National Social Security Fund the employer makes the initial selection. A choice of two investment portfolios is available, but if members want wide investment flexibility they need to move to the Provider or Entrepreneur product options.
  • Narrator - the option that follows Momentum's house view on retirement and insurance benefits, which are packaged together according to what a typical member's needs are, at certain ages.
  • Provider - this is for members whose retirement and insurance benefits needs are more complex and who require some flexibility. Provider allows members to invest in more than one portfolio at a time except for the Momentum Lifestages portfolio.
  • Entrepreneur - this is the boutique or specialist choice product option. It is for members who are highly financially sophisticated and require the ability to structure specific and unique investment and insurance profiles using a selection of unit trusts and Momentum portfolios. Members on Entrepreneur require flexibility on their insurance benefits. Entrepreneur allows members to invest in more than one portfolio at a time except for the Momentum Lifestages portfolio.
Retirement benefits for employees Open

FundsAtWork has a range of carefully selected investment portfolios, asset managers and asset classes to match each client's investment objectives.

Employers participating in the FundsAtWork Umbrella Funds can select the initial default product option and investment portfolio:

  • Founder - suitable for members who need to protect their capital while targeting inflation-beating returns over long term periods in excess of five years.
  • Narrator - follows Momentum's house view on investments and will automatically change the members' investment portfolio according to their particular life stage.
  • Provider - offers a range of investment portfolios targeting inflation plus 3% to inflation plus 7%, a range of guaranteed portfolios as well as the life stage solution.
  • Entrepreneur - suitable for members who want to structure a specific and unique investment profile using a selection of unit trusts and Momentum portfolios.

Insurance benefits Open

Employer sponsored benefits are often the only source of insurance cover that an individual has. FundsAtWork partners with financial advisers to assist the employer in their selection of insurance benefits for their business which enable employees to meet their individual needs.

Insurance benefits options

FundsAtWork Family Protector

FundsAtWork Family Protector is designed to protect members' world and contributes towards the financial wellness of their families. It facilitates income continuation (product choice dependant) for family and loved ones in an event of the member's death or disability.

Members can also choose to increase the family protector benefit from BASE to PLUS option allowing them to add more children, parents / parents-in-law and even increase the cover amount.

FundsAtWork Family Protector covers the following:

  • Funeral expenses - basic payouts if a member or family member dies.
  • Education expenses - basic payouts if a member dies.
  • Medical Aid Expenses - extension of medical scheme cover if a member gets disabled or dies.

Preservation Open

With FundsAtWork, members can preserve their retirement saving if their employment status changes due to resignation, retrenchment or dismissal by transferring to the FundsAtWork Preservation Funds, which have been selected by the trustees as the default preservation funds for the FundsAtWork Umbrella Funds. At FundsAtWork we encourage members to preserve their retirement savings so that they can avoid any negative impact on their lifestyle expectations at retirement.

Preservation funds product options:

  • Members' savings will be placed in the same product option and investment portfolios as in the umbrella funds.

Family Protector benefits:

  • If members transfer their retirement benefits from the umbrella funds, they can keep the Family Protector BASE funeral benefit at no monthly fee.

Automatic preservation:

  • Transferring from the umbrella fund to the preservation fund is automated if selected by the member, which means that the balance in the member's retirement savings account will not be disinvested from the market. Their savings will stay invested without losing growth.
  • Employers can also notify us if their members wish to automatically preserve their retirement benefit on the Employer Portal.
Lifestyle benefits Open

Home loan facility

  • Employers can make a home loan facility available to employees, who will then have access to a pension-backed home loan facility at competitive rates. The home loan facility is made available to enable FundsAtWork members to buy or renovate their primary residence.
  • The loan amount must be paid off before withdrawing from the FundsAtWork Umbrella Funds, or the outstanding balance of the loan will be deducted from the retirement savings at claim stage. The balance will be paid to the employee or their beneficiaries.

How to apply:

The employer enters into an agreement with either FNB or Standard Bank on behalf of the employee. Once the agreement is in place the employee can then apply at any FNB or Standard Bank branch for a home loan. The bank then notifies FundsAtWork once the loan facility has been granted.

Multiply wellness & rewards programme

  • Momentum's wellness & rewards programme is available to all FundsAtWork members.
  • The FundsAtWork Multiply benefit rewards members depending on the health of their heart. FundsAtWork online convenience Open

FundsAtWork's online tools give you immediate access to real-time information; it allows you to be in control without compromising on sound governance and allows you to manage your advice process more efficiently.

  • As the financial adviser, you have access to all participating employers' scheme and member information with a range of reports designed to complement the advice process. Information is available at individual member level, pay point level or scheme level.
  • Members have access to information and tools that educate and empower them to make the right financial choices; they can update their personal or beneficiary details online, subscribe to our communication events and perform certain transactions online.
  • Employers are able to control the on-going transfer of data and information, as well as all aspects of the monthly contribution process.

The FundsAtWork's employer portal is secure and convenient and designed to save you and your clients time. Some of the benefits of auto preservation are:

  • The auto preserve facility supports full asset portability to the preservation fund, and no losses are incurred as with manual transactions.
  • The withdrawal claim early notification facility is able to settle cash withdrawal claims immediately following exit.
  • Pre-funding of contributions allows for early investment, leading to enhanced long-term retirement saving.
